Cleveland, Ohio – Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop late Friday afternoon, with impacts building through the evening commute as wet roads and reduced visibility affect travel on I-90, I-71, and I-77 through about 10 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, storms will move across northeast Ohio late today before diminishing by early Saturday morning. While widespread severe weather is not expected, periods of heavy rain and isolated lightning could still slow traffic and create brief ponding on roadways.

Cities including Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Youngstown, and Lorain will see the greatest impact during the evening hours. High temperatures will reach between 74 and 81 degrees before storms arrive, followed by overnight lows dropping into the low to upper 50s as the system exits.

Drivers should allow extra travel time, keep headlights on during heavy rain, and avoid water-covered roads. Residents should remain alert for changing conditions this evening, especially during any heavier downpours.

Conditions improve quickly Saturday, with only a few early showers before skies dry out. Cooler air settles in for the weekend, with highs ranging from 55 to 68 degrees Saturday and upper 50s to mid-60s Sunday. Additional updates may be issued if storm intensity increases later today.
