Northern Indiana is set to experience significant weather changes starting Friday, with a strong cold front bringing storms and much cooler temperatures for the weekend. Highs on Friday will range from 71 to 84 degrees, but the passage of the cold front will trigger widespread showers and potential storms across the region.
According to the US National Weather Service Northern Indiana, there’s a 50% to 70% chance of showers and storms on Friday, with the most intense weather expected in the afternoon and evening. As the cold front moves through, temperatures will begin to drop significantly, leading to a much cooler Saturday.
On Saturday, expect highs only in the 60s, with the possibility of lake effect showers, especially near Lake Michigan. Breezy conditions will accompany the cooler weather, with a 10% to 30% chance of showers lingering throughout the day. The dramatic shift from warm to cool temperatures will be felt across the region, making it a weekend to prepare for both rain and cooler air.
