Fort Wayne, IN – Northern Indiana is set to experience a mix of hot, humid weather and periodic storms with potential heavy wind gusts over the next several days. Residents should prepare for these conditions, which are expected to persist through Friday.
According to the US National Weather Service Northern Indiana, today’s high will range from 84 to 88 degrees, with a chance of storms tonight. Temperatures will dip to between 66 and 70 degrees. On Wednesday, the high will reach 85 to 88 degrees, with storm chances continuing into the evening. The heat index on Wednesday is expected to be in the mid to upper 90s.
The greatest risk for severe weather will be Wednesday night into Thursday, with confidence in severe weather still somewhat low. However, the main threat appears to be damaging thunderstorm wind gusts. Thursday’s high is forecasted to be between 85 and 90 degrees, with a low of 67 to 71 degrees. The peak heat index could climb to between 90 and 102 degrees.
Friday will bring similar conditions, with highs between 79 and 83 degrees and lows from 65 to 68 degrees. Storms are likely, accompanied by potentially heavy rainfall and strong wind gusts.
