According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, the heat wave will affect several cities, including Joplin, Rolla/Vichy, and West Plains. Today’s forecast predicts a high of 96° in Springfield with a heat index of 105°, while Joplin will see temperatures rise to 98° with a heat index of 106°. Similar conditions are anticipated on Wednesday and Thursday, with highs reaching 97° and 98° in some areas, accompanied by heat indices exceeding 104°.
The excessive heat is expected to continue into Friday, with Springfield experiencing highs of 94° and a heat index of 96°. Joplin, Rolla/Vichy, and West Plains will see temperatures in the mid-90s, with heat indices nearing 100°.
