The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a forecast indicating that the region will experience a peak heat index of 105 degrees on Sunday. The oppressive weather pattern is expected to persist through Tuesday, with severe thunderstorms predicted to arrive by early next week.
According to the National Weather Service, waves of storms will parade through the region, bringing gusty winds and heavy rain. These storms are anticipated to be sporadic, with many hours remaining dry in between. However, the storms pose a threat of damaging winds and flash flooding, which could create hazardous conditions.
The forecast indicates very humid conditions on Sunday and Monday, with temperatures reaching 91-94 degrees. By Tuesday, the region will see a slight dip in temperatures to 84-90 degrees, but the humidity will remain high. The storm activity is expected to peak with a 50-60% chance of thunderstorms on Tuesday.
