Chicago, IL – The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for much of northern Illinois until 1 a.m. CDT.

Thunderstorms moving into the region this evening could produce rainfall rates exceeding 2 inches per hour, with localized totals potentially surpassing 4 inches in areas experiencing repeated storms.

According to the National Weather Service, if such heavy rainfall materializes, it could lead to flash flooding across the affected areas, including Chicago, Joliet, and Kankakee. Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions.
