Sacramento, CA – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for parts of Northern California, including Burney Basin, Eastern Shasta County, Western Plumas County, and Lassen Park, with snowfall expected from 4 a.m. Wednesday to 4 p.m. Thursday at elevations above 5,000 feet.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Sacramento, snowfall accumulations will range from 4 to 8 inches between 5,000 and 6,000 feet, with higher elevations above 6,000 feet receiving 8 to 14 inches. The storm could significantly impact travel through the West Slope of the Northern Sierra Nevada and surrounding mountain passes.

Drivers should anticipate slick roads, chain controls, and possible travel delaysthroughout the advisory period. Morning and evening commutes on Wednesday and Thursday may be hazardous, particularly for those traveling through mountain areas.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) advises checking road conditions at quickmap.dot.ca.gov or dialing 511 before heading out. Motorists should slow down, allow extra travel time, and carry emergency supplies.

This storm follows a pattern of late-season snowfall impacting Northern California’s higher elevations, adding to the region’s snowpack. Stay updated with the latest forecasts at www.weather.gov/sto/.
