Yreka, CA – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Medford, issued by NWS Eureka, has announced a Frost Advisory for Western and Central Siskiyou County, in effect from 10 p.m. Sunday through 8 a.m. Monday.
Forecasters say overnight lows near 34°F are expected, creating the potential for frost formation across valleys and low-lying areas, including Yreka, Fort Jones, Etna, Happy Camp, and Callahan.
According to the NWS, the chilly temperatures could damage sensitive vegetation, including gardens and young plants. Residents are advised to cover outdoor plants, bring potted vegetation indoors, and protect exposed plumbing where possible.
Calm winds and clear skies overnight will enhance frost development, particularly in sheltered mountain valleys. Temperatures are forecast to rebound into the 50s and 60s by Monday afternoon as the cold air lifts.
