Pueblo, CO – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Pueblo has issued a Fire Weather Watch for much of southern and eastern Colorado from Monday morning through Monday afternoon, citing gusty winds and very low humidity that could lead to rapid fire spread.

The advisory includes Fremont, El Paso, Pueblo, Huerfano, Las Animas, Crowley, and Kiowa counties, covering communities such as Canon City, Colorado Springs, Walsenburg, Trinidad, and Eads.

Forecasters predict north winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph, and relative humidity levels dropping to near 13%. These conditions are expected to create an environment where fires could ignite and spread quickly.

Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, properly dispose of cigarette butts, and delay any spark-producing activities such as welding or grinding. The NWS warns that a Red Flag Warning may be issued if conditions worsen Monday morning.

Officials encourage residents to remain alert for updates and to follow local fire restrictions already in place.
