Cleveland, OH — Northeast Ohio is bracing for significant snowfall this weekend, with lake effect snow expected to bring up to 10 inches in some areas. Travelers should prepare for hazardous driving conditions and poor visibility, particularly along I-90 and U.S. Route 30, as snow intensifies Friday evening through Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service, a Lake Effect Snow Warning is in effect for Cuyahoga, Summit, and Portage counties from Friday morning until 7 p.m. Saturday. Snowfall rates could reach up to 2 inches per hour, making roadways treacherous during the evening and morning commutes. Gusty winds, blowing snow, and temperatures in the low 20s will further complicate travel.
Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and keep emergency kits in vehicles if driving is unavoidable. The Ohio Department of Transportation is urging motorists to monitor road conditions and allow extra time for commutes.
Looking ahead, snow showers are expected to taper off Sunday morning, with a slight chance of lingering snow into early next week. Temperatures will remain below freezing, with highs in the upper 20s to low 30s through Monday.
Those in affected areas should stay updated by checking weather.gov and listening to local advisories. Travel delays and disruptions are likely, so plan accordingly.
