Fort Worth, Texas – North and Central Texas are entering another stretch of dangerous summer heat, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the upper 90s and lower 100s while heat index values soar as high as 112 degrees. The prolonged heat is expected to continue through the workweek, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses for anyone spending extended time outdoors.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, strong high pressure and clear skies will dominate the region through Friday. Afternoon highs will range from the upper 90s to the mid-100s, while humidity will push feels-like temperatures between 105 and 112 degrees during the hottest part of each day.
The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is expected to reach 103 degrees Tuesday, 105 Wednesday, 102 Thursday and 102 Friday, with heat index values ranging from 108 to 112 degrees. Sherman and Denison are forecast to peak between 98 and 103 degrees, while Waco, Temple, Killeen and Palestine are expected to see highs near 98 to 102 degrees through the week.
Rain chances remain very limited. A 10% to 15% chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm exists Tuesday across parts of northeast Texas, including areas near Paris and Canton, but most of the region will stay dry under persistent high pressure.
Residents should avoid prolonged outdoor activity during the afternoon, drink plenty of water, wear lightweight clothing and take frequent breaks in air-conditioned spaces. Never leave children or pets in parked vehicles, and check on elderly neighbors or anyone without reliable cooling. The dangerous heat is expected to continue through at least Friday, with additional heat-related advisories possible.
