Charlotte, NC – A severe weather threat looms over Charlotte and surrounding areas this Monday evening, with forecasts predicting heavy rain, damaging winds, and hail. The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a Flood Watch effective from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., highlighting the potential for flash flooding, particularly in urban and low-lying regions.

According to the National Weather Service, the greatest risk for severe storms will occur between noon and 6 p.m. Residents in Charlotte and nearby communities east of US-1 should remain vigilant as these storms are expected to intensify, bringing localized flash flooding, hail, and wind gusts capable of causing damage.

The primary concern is the possibility of 1 to 2 inches of rainfall within a short period, which could overwhelm drainage systems. In addition, hail and winds reaching severe levels could impact property and infrastructure. The National Weather Service advises residents to avoid flooded roads and seek shelter during intense storms.

The forecast for the rest of the week shows improving conditions, with scattered showers expected Tuesday before sunshine returns midweek. Residents should stay updated on the weather and exercise caution during today’s storms.
