Chicago, IL – Scattered rain showers are expected to affect western portions of central Illinois today, with a 70 percent chance of rain along areas west of I-57. Meanwhile, areas east of I-57, closer to Chicago, will see a lower chance of rain, with only a 20 percent likelihood of showers. Residents in the region should prepare for the possibility of patchy fog developing overnight as the showers taper off.

According to the National Weather Service, partly cloudy skies are expected from Tuesday into Wednesday, with an increase in shower activity by midweek. The weather is expected to be cool today, with highs in the 70s, gradually warming up to around 80 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday. By Thursday, temperatures could reach between 80 and 85 degrees, bringing a chance of thunderstorms along the I-57 corridor near Chicago.

As the week progresses, the chances for showers and thunderstorms will rise, especially from Wednesday into Thursday. Residents traveling along I-57 or in the surrounding areas should stay alert for changing weather conditions, including fog, which may reduce visibility during the early morning hours.
