North Carolina – A light haze hangs over Raleigh this morning, but the air already feels softer and warmer than it should in early March. Temperatures are climbing quickly after daybreak, and sunshine will take control by late morning. If you’re heading out, you won’t need the heavy jacket.

According to the National Weather Service, highs reach near 75 degrees today under mostly sunny skies. Winds remain light, shifting southwest around 5 to 8 mph. Areas of fog early will continue to thin through mid-morning, improving visibility along I-40 and the Beltline.

The warming trend accelerates from here. Thursday pushes highs near 77. By Friday, Raleigh surges to around 81 degrees with mostly sunny skies. That’s well above average for early March and signals a true spring pattern settling in across central North Carolina.

Saturday climbs even higher, near 82 degrees, before a slight chance of showers develops late Saturday night. Rain chances increase Sunday with highs near 79. Keep umbrellas handy if you have outdoor plans.

Looking ahead to early next week, scattered showers remain possible Sunday night into Monday, with highs in the upper 70s. Even with passing rain, temperatures stay well above normal into the 6- to 10-day outlook. Spring warmth is gaining ground.

Clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8. We lose an hour of sleep but gain more evening daylight. March typically adds over an hour of daylight across North Carolina.
