Raleigh, NC – Temperatures are forecast to plummet across North Carolina tonight, with lows reaching the teens and low 20s. Residents should prepare for freezing conditions Sunday morning, especially on roadways, including I-40 and I-85, where frost could create slippery surfaces.

According to the National Weather Service in Raleigh, overnight lows tonight will dip to 17 degrees in areas like Louisburg, with cities such as Greensboro, Durham, and Fayetteville seeing lows around 19-21 degrees. Frost is expected to develop as winds subside, increasing the risk of slick road conditions early Sunday morning.

Sunday’s weather will be slightly milder, with highs reaching the mid-to-upper 40s under mostly cloudy skies. However, the cold will return Sunday night, with lows again dropping into the 20s.

Looking ahead, Monday promises a warmer trend, with highs near 50 degrees under sunny skies. By Tuesday, temperatures will climb even further, nearing 58 degrees, providing much-needed relief from the weekend chill.

Residents should take precautions tonight by covering outdoor plants, protecting exposed pipes, and ensuring pets are brought indoors. Drivers are advised to check road conditions early Sunday and allow extra travel time.
