CAMBRIA, NY – Local fire crews successfully contained a structure fire Monday evening after a barn blaze threatened a property on Ridge Road.

First responders were dispatched to the 3100 block of Ridge Road following reports of a fire at a rural property. According to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, the call was received at approximately 5:35 p.m., with deputies arriving to find white smoke billowing from the barn structure. The property owner was found on-site actively attempting to douse the flames with a garden hose before professional crews arrived.

According to a media release from Sheriff Michael J. Filicetti, preliminary reports suggest the fire originated within the walls of the building and was likely electrical in nature. Firefighters from the Sanborn, Pekin, Cambria, and Ransomville Volunteer Fire Companies arrived shortly after the initial call to perform an interior and exterior assessment. Crews were forced to open sections of the barn’s wall to pinpoint the source of the heat, successfully extinguishing the fire before it could spread to the rest of the structure.

According to officials, no injuries were reported for the property owner or the responding personnel. Support at the scene was provided by Tri-Community Ambulance and the Niagara County Fire Coordinators Office.

The Niagara County Fire Investigation Unit has taken over the scene to determine the exact cause of the blaze. The investigation remains ongoing as of Monday night.
