Newark, DE – A convenience store in Newark was the scene of an armed robbery early Sunday morning, prompting an ongoing investigation by Delaware State Police in New Castle County.
According to Delaware State Police, troopers responded around 8:15 a.m. Sunday, May 3, to the Shore Stop located at 796 South Old Baltimore Pike in the Newark area, part of the greater Wilmington metro. Investigators say an unknown suspect, allegedly wearing a mask and armed with a knife, entered the store and approached the clerk at the counter.
Police said the suspect allegedly demanded money from the register. The clerk complied, and the suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were reported during the incident.
Authorities have not released a detailed description of the suspect but confirm the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit is actively working the case. The store remained open following the incident, though police presence was reported in the area shortly after the robbery.
