Nashua, NH – New Hampshire State Police are renewing their appeal for information in the unsolved 2009 homicide of a man found dead inside a Nashua motel room, urging the public to come forward with any leads that could help close the long-standing case.
According to New Hampshire State Police, 59-year-old John R. Wiegmann was discovered strangled to death on Sunday, May 3, 2009, inside his room at the Motel 6 on Progress Avenue. Investigators say Wiegmann had been staying at the motel for several days leading up to his death.
Authorities reported that Wiegmann was last seen getting into a green minivan at approximately 7:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2009. The vehicle is described as having a distinctive 3- to 4-inch diameter sunspot on the passenger-side front fender, visible in front of the side mirror.
Earlier that same evening, Wiegmann had visited several restaurants and bars in the Nashua area. He was last seen wearing a green t-shirt, jeans, and a brown windbreaker-style jacket. Investigators noted that he had recently returned to Nashua after spending time living in Utah, Las Vegas, California, and Arizona, and had come back to be closer to family.
The case remains open, and authorities continue to pursue any new information that could identify a suspect or clarify the circumstances surrounding his death.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the New Hampshire Cold Case Unit through the state’s tip form or by emailing.
