Buffalo, NY – Air temperatures across Western New York plunged up to 35 degrees Wednesday, ushered in by brisk northwest winds and early cloud cover that will clear to sunshine by midday.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, highs will struggle to reach the upper 40s to low 50s across the region—down from Tuesday’s unseasonably warm readings in the 70s and 80s. Wind speeds will remain steady between 10 to 15 mph throughout the day, contributing to the cooler feel.
Cities like Rochester, Batavia, and Jamestown will notice the most dramatic cool-down, while areas closer to Lake Ontario could see some lingering cloudiness through late morning. Despite the dip in temperatures, no rain is expected Wednesday, and skies will turn sunny by the afternoon.
Residents should prepare for another shift by Thursday, when highs bounce back into the low to mid-70s. Afternoon showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible, especially along the I-90 corridor and into the Southern Tier.
Conditions remain dry and breezy through tonight, but weather alerts may return as Thursday’s storms develop. Stay tuned to the National Weather Service for the latest updates.
