New York, NY – High temperatures across the tri-state area on Monday hovered slightly below early June norms, with most locations peaking in the low 70s, according to the National Weather Service in New York.
According to the NWS, Central Park topped out at 71°F, five degrees below the typical early June high of 76°F. Similar trends played out across the region: LaGuardia hit 71°F, JFK reached 72°F, and Teterboro maxed out at 73°F. The coolest spot was Groton, CT, with just 66°F. In contrast, Newark warmed to 75°F—still shy of its 77°F seasonal average.
Residents across Long Island, Westchester, and parts of Connecticut experienced slightly breezy, spring-like conditions that were ideal for outdoor activities but cooler than typical June afternoons. Islip, Westhampton, and Shirley all reported highs of 70°F or less.
While no weather hazards were reported, cooler temps may continue through midweek. Those heading out in the early morning or evening should prepare for light jackets as lows dip into the upper 50s.
Normal highs for early June range from 73°F to 77°F depending on location. Another update is expected by Tuesday evening.
