New Lenox, IL – A person was shot and killed Monday evening on Interstate 80 near the I-355 entrance in New Lenox.
Illinois State Police confirmed the victim was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries but later died. Officers temporarily shut down westbound I-80 to investigate, causing significant traffic delays. Some lanes reopened as police completed their work at the scene.
Authorities said New Lenox police assisted in arresting a suspect without incident. They emphasized that there is no active threat to the community.
