New Hampshire Tragedy: Boating Collision on Lake, Rowing Enthusiast Dies

Tilton, NH – A fatal boating crash on Lake Winnisquam has claimed the life of a local man. Thomas Mead, 76, was operating a scull rowing boat when he was struck by a pontoon boat early Sunday morning. According to the New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol, the incident occurred at 6:42 a.m. The pontoon boat was operated by a 17-year-old male, who attempted CPR on Mead until emergency responders arrived.

Responding agencies included the Tilton Police Department, Sanbornton Police Department, Belmont Fire Department, Franklin Fire Department, and Tilton-Northfield Fire & EMS. Mead was transported by ambulance to Concord Hospital – Laconia, where he was pronounced deceased.
