Nashua, NH — A New England woman was hospitalized Tuesday after her truck ended up in the Merrimack River following a crash.

State Troopers responded around 3 p.m. to reports of a vehicle in the river near Nashua’s Circumferential Highway. According to New Hampshire State Police, the white 2014 GMC Sierra collided with another vehicle during a lane change, struck a guardrail, and rolled down an embankment before landing in the river right-side up.

The driver, of Merrimack, escaped the partially submerged vehicle on her own. She was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.

Emergency crews, including Nashua Fire Rescue, environmental agencies, and Kent’s Towing, worked to remove the truck. The westbound lanes of the Sagamore Bridge were closed temporarily during the recovery effort.

Police continue to investigate the crash. Authorities urge witnesses to contact Trooper Shane Mason at (603) 223-4381 or shane.p.mason@dos.nh.gov with any information.
