Boston, Massachusetts – A warm and gusty Wednesday is underway across Massachusetts, with high temperatures climbing into the upper 80s and wind gusts reaching up to 30 mph.
According to the National Weather Service in Boston, temperatures will top out between 84°F and 88°F across most inland areas, including Worcester, Springfield, and Fitchburg. Coastal areas like Boston and New Bedford will remain slightly cooler in the mid-80s, while Cape Cod and the Islands see highs ranging from the low 70s in Nantucket to near 81°F in Hyannis.
The combination of heat and strong southwesterly winds could impact outdoor activities and boating along the coast. Drivers should remain alert for sudden gusts, especially on elevated roads and bridges. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, secure outdoor items, and limit strenuous activity during peak afternoon hours.
Today’s warm pattern is part of a broader ridge building across the Northeast, ushering in summer-like conditions more typical of July than mid-June. It’s the warmest stretch since early May for parts of the state.
More breezy and warm weather is expected into Thursday, with the potential for pop-up showers by the weekend.
