Aurora, IL – An Aurora chiropractor, already facing numerous charges, was indicted on thirteen new counts related to alleged sexual misconduct after additional alleged victims came forward with allegations.
According to a joint announcement from the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Aurora Police Department, a DuPage County Grand Jury returned a new indictment Tuesday against Murtaza Hameed. The new indictment adds thirteen charges, bringing the total to a thirty-one-count indictment. The additional charges allegedly include one count of Attempt Criminal Sexual Assault (Class 2 Felony), eight counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault (Class 2 Felony), and three counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (Class 1 Felony). Hameed appeared in court Tuesday where he was denied pre-trial release and will remain in custody.
The investigation began in January 2025, after a report was made concerning the alleged sexual assault of a minor at Hameed’s chiropractic office, located in the 3800 block of McCoy Drive. Further investigation uncovered allegations from another minor dating back to 2019. In a statement on Tuesday, the Aurora Police Department said that more alleged victims have since come forward, with the age range of the accusers now spanning from pre-adolescent to adult males. The alleged incidents occurred between July 2016 and January 2025.
“We recognize the incredible bravery it takes for victims to come forward and share their stories,” stated DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin. “Our investigators are working to create a safe and supportive environment for anyone impacted by these crimes.” Officials remind the public that the complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant’s guilt.
Authorities urge any other potential victims or anyone with information to contact Aurora Police Investigator Jennifer Hillgoth at 630-256-5554 or DuPage County Investigator Dirk Ollech at 630-407-2750. Hameed’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 8, 2025.
