Fort Worth, Texas – Central Texas could face flash flooding through Friday morning as rounds of heavy rain move across the region, threatening to dump up to 6 inches of rain in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, widespread totals of 1 to 3 inches are likely through Friday, with a 20% chance that certain areas—especially from Waco to Killeen—will see between 4 and 6 inches. The heaviest rain is expected late Wednesday into Friday morning, with Central Texas remaining at highest risk.

The threat includes cities such as Waco, Killeen, Palestine, and portions of the DFW Metroplex, where saturated ground could lead to rapid runoff. Travel disruptions are likely, and drivers are urged to allow extra time and avoid flooded roads. Smaller towns along I-35 and Highways 6 and 84 could also experience road closures due to high water.

Rainfall intensity and location may shift, so residents should monitor updates and be prepared to act quickly if flash flood warnings are issued. The flood threat remains active through Friday morning, with additional advisories possible as rainfall patterns evolve.
