Reno, NV – A winter storm is bringing snow to the Greater Lake Tahoe area and nearby highways, including I-80, causing potential travel delays. Local officials urge drivers to use caution as conditions worsen through Tuesday night.
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 p.m. Tuesday. Snow levels are expected to drop to 5,200 feet, with light accumulations forecast. High winds could reduce visibility on roadways, particularly along mountain passes like Donner Summit on I-80.
Following the storm, a shift to clear skies is expected Wednesday through Thanksgiving Day. Reno will see sunny conditions with daytime highs in the low 40s Wednesday and mid-40s on Thursday. Travelers heading out for the holiday can anticipate dry weather, though temperatures will remain brisk, with nighttime lows in the low 20s.
For those in Mono County and Eastern Sierra areas, road conditions could remain hazardous into the evening. Residents are advised to monitor local updates and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.
Looking further ahead, sunny skies and warmer temperatures in the low 50s are forecast for Friday through Sunday, making it a favorable weekend for outdoor activities.
