Las Vegas, Nevada – Scattered thunderstorms could rattle parts of Las Vegas by 2 p.m. Friday, with drivers on U.S. Route 95 and I-15 urged to brace for slick roads, brief downpours, and reduced visibility. Though storms will be short-lived, intense bursts may impact travel just as weekend plans get underway.
According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, Friday’s storm chance peaks between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. before skies turn partly sunny. Highs will approach 97°F, with southeast winds near 10 mph. Rainfall totals won’t be widespread, but localized lightning and wet pavement may affect outdoor activity and travel safety.
Storms taper off Friday evening, but intense heat surges back by Saturday. Highs will hit 101°F Saturday, 106°F Sunday, and remain above 105°F through Tuesday. Clear skies and minimal winds will offer little relief, especially during overnight lows in the upper 70s to low 80s.
Residents should stay hydrated, limit outdoor exposure during peak heat, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Cooling centers and shaded public parks will be key for safe summer recreation.
Triple-digit temps this early in June are notable, as Las Vegas approaches what could be its first prolonged heat stretch of the season. This is a good time to inspect AC systems, stock up on water, and avoid peak sun hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Warnings remain in place for Friday’s storm threat. More advisories are possible as heat builds into early next week.
