Las Vegas, Nevada – Las Vegas residents can expect a scorching 105°F by Thursday afternoon, prompting a heat advisory and raising travel concerns along I-15 and US-95.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will climb rapidly after 11 a.m. Thursday, with peak heat from 2 to 5 p.m. Winds may gust to 18 mph, compounding the danger. Officials recommend limiting outdoor activity, staying hydrated, and avoiding non-essential midday travel — especially for those commuting through Summerlin or North Las Vegas.
High pressure will dominate the region into next week. Friday and Saturday stay dangerously hot, with highs of 105°F and 108°F respectively. Sunday’s high may reach 109°F, marking the most intense heat stretch so far this June.
Local agencies urge residents to check on vulnerable neighbors, never leave pets or children in cars, and use cooling centers if needed. Power demand may surge, so NV Energy recommends charging devices and conserving electricity during peak hours.
Las Vegas is no stranger to summer heat, but this stretch is notably early and intense — the first 108°F reading came one week earlier than last year.
Warnings remain in effect, and the heat risk will persist through at least Monday.
