Stagecoach, NV – A 3.4 magnitude earthquake rattled parts of western Nevada early Sunday morning, waking residents in and around Stagecoach and Reno.

According to the Nevada Seismological Laboratory, the quake struck at 2:22 a.m. local time, approximately 13 kilometers northwest of Stagecoach, at a depth of 9.8 kilometers. The epicenter lies northeast of Carson City and east of Reno, where light shaking was reported.

The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed the seismic event was reviewed and officially recorded, noting a handful of citizen reports from the affected region. No damage or injuries have been reported as of Sunday morning.

Minor tremors of this size are not uncommon in western Nevada, which sits along the Walker Lane Seismic Zone, a known area of fault activity. Though the quake was relatively small, emergency officials remind residents to remain prepared for aftershocks or larger events in the future.

Residents are encouraged to check home safety kits, secure heavy furniture, and review earthquake safety procedures. Those who felt the quake can contribute their experiences to the USGS “Did You Feel It?” program to support ongoing seismic research.
