Omaha, NE – A wintry mix of freezing rain and drizzle could create hazardous travel conditions across eastern Nebraska on Wednesday, with another chance of snow arriving this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, freezing rain is expected to develop early Wednesday morning and continue through midday, with temperatures hovering around 33°F. Light ice accumulation is possible, particularly on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads. Drivers should use caution during the morning commute, as black ice may form on slick surfaces.

Wednesday night will remain mostly cloudy with temperatures dropping to 25°F. Winds will shift northwest at 5 to 11 mph after midnight, with occasional gusts up to 20 mph.

Thursday brings a brief warm-up, with sunny skies and a high of 41°F. Winds will be out of the north-northwest at 5 to 13 mph, with gusts up to 21 mph. The overnight low will dip to 21°F under partly cloudy skies.

Friday remains mostly sunny with a high near 40°F and light winds. However, by Friday night, clouds will return, and temperatures will drop to 25°F.

The next round of winter weather could arrive on Saturday, with a slight chance of snow in the morning before clearing in the afternoon. Temperatures will reach 38°F, but increasing northwest winds could gust up to 23 mph, making it feel even colder.

Looking ahead, Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny with highs in the upper 30s. Another system could develop early next week, bringing another round of precipitation.

Travelers should monitor the forecast for updates and be prepared for potentially slick conditions throughout the week. Keep an eye on road conditions and take precautions when driving, especially during early morning hours.
