Cleveland, OH – A winter storm is set to bring snow and freezing rain to Cleveland Wednesday night, creating hazardous road conditions before transitioning to rain Thursday. Another round of snow is expected this weekend, making for a challenging week of winter weather.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), snow showers will begin Wednesday afternoon with a 30% chance of accumulation. By Wednesday night, the system will intensify, bringing a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Ice accumulation is expected to be light but could create slick roads and sidewalks, making travel conditions dangerous overnight.

Thursday: Rain Moves In

Temperatures will rise Thursday, reaching the mid-40s, causing the wintry mix to transition to rain by morning. The chance of precipitation is 50%, but new snowfall and ice accumulation should remain minimal. Winds will shift from the south at 9 to 11 mph, bringing slightly warmer conditions before temperatures drop again overnight.

Friday: Brief Sunshine Before More Snow

Friday will offer a break in the stormy pattern, with partly sunny skies and a high near 30°F. However, clouds will return Friday night, setting the stage for the next winter system.

Weekend Storm: More Snow Expected

Another system will move in Saturday afternoon, bringing a 60% chance of rain and snow. Overnight, rain is expected to change back to snow, with an 80% chance of precipitation into Sunday morning.

Residents should prepare for hazardous conditions Wednesday night into Thursday and again this weekend. Drivers are advised to use caution on icy roads, especially during the Wednesday night commute. Stay updated on changing conditions by checking local forecasts.
