Omaha, NE – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Omaha has issued a severe weather alert for Saturday. There is a 40-60% chance of storms across Nebraska with a level 2 out of 5 risk for severe storms. The window for the strongest storms will be from 3 PM to 10 PM. Residents should prepare for hail up to two inches in diameter and wind gusts over 60 mph.
According to the NWS, severe weather threats are expected to be highest in the central and eastern parts of the state. While tornadoes are unlikely, localized flooding is possible in areas that experience heavy rainfall.
The weather forecast for the rest of the weekend shows a mix of conditions. On Saturday, temperatures will reach a high of 80°F with mostly sunny skies during the day before the storms. Sunday will bring a 35% chance of rain with temperatures reaching 84°F. The start of next week will see a return to sunny conditions with highs in the low to mid-80s.
