Nearly 3,000 dead since beginning of pandemic in Illinois, 2.2k new cases Wednesday

The Illinois Department of Public Health a total of 2,974 deaths have occurred since the beginning of the pandemic here in the State, announcing 136 new deaths on Wednesday.  The State is anticipated to pass 3,000 dead sometime in the next 24-hours, just 26 deaths away from that grim milestone.

The State announced 15% of all tests given in the past 24 hours came back positive.  Of the 14974 tests conducted in the past 24 hours, 2,270 returned positive for COVID-19.

Among new deaths announced today included 10 residents of Will County, including a male in his 60s, two females in their 70s, a male in his 70s, two females in their 80s, three females in their 90s, and a male in his 90s

There have now been a total of 68,232 tests resulting in positive COVID-19 cases to date of 361,260 tests ran in the state to date.  That’s a positive return rate of 18.8% to date.
