Nashville, TN – With scorching temperatures and high humidity forecasted this weekend, Nashville residents are being cautioned to take extra precautions, particularly for children and pets. The US National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a reminder about the severe risks associated with leaving children and pets in hot vehicles, noting that over three dozen children and numerous pets die annually from heat exposure inside vehicles.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures inside a car can quickly soar to deadly levels. For example, when the outside temperature is 80 degrees, the inside of a car can reach 99 degrees within 10 minutes and 123 degrees in just an hour. This weekend’s high temperature is expected to reach 93 degrees, exacerbating these dangers.
The forecast for Nashville indicates a high of 93 degrees today with partly cloudy skies. The heat will continue through the week, with Sunday’s high at 89 degrees and temperatures dipping slightly to 84 degrees on Monday. By Tuesday, the high is expected to rise to 94 degrees, and Wednesday will see temperatures peaking at 95 degrees. Slightly cooler temperatures are predicted for Thursday, with a high of 92 degrees, and potential rain on Friday, which might bring some relief with a high of 91 degrees. The week will end with a sunny Saturday and a high of 90 degrees.
