Nashville, TN – A man arrested in San Antonio, Texas, last week awaits extradition to Nashville for his wife’s 2023 homicide. Donovan Holt, 33, reportedly admitted to strangling his wife, April Holt, 29, during an interview with Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) detectives. The confession comes more than a year after the incident occurred in July 2023.

According to police, April was found unresponsive in the bathroom of the couple’s Cane Ridge Parkway home. A plastic bag was taped tightly around her neck. She was rushed to Southern Hills Hospital, where she later died. Initially, the Medical Examiner’s Office classified her death as a suicide in November 2023, attributing the cause to suffocation.

In a recent interview with MNPD’s Cold Case Unit, Holt revealed his involvement in his wife’s death. He has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of reckless homicide, evidence tampering, and filing a false report. Authorities plan to return Holt to Nashville soon to face these charges.

Holt’s confession brings closure to a case that had remained unresolved for over a year.
