Indianapolis, IN – A 32-year-old Indianapolis man was arrested in connection with an August 2024 homicide on the city’s east side. Thomas Mason Jr. was taken into custody by the IMPD Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) detectives on Monday.
According to IMPD, officers responded to a shooting on Thursday, August 29, just after 8 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of N. Leland Avenue following reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, police found 31-year-old Michael Edwards in a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency services transported Edwards to Eskenazi Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
On Monday, September 16, around 5:43 p.m., VCU detectives located Mason near the 3800 block of N. Leland Avenue. Officers arrested Mason and transported him to IMPD’s homicide office.
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will decide on final charges. Mason has been arrested for murder but is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
