St. Tammany Parish, LA – A fatal crash on LA Hwy 41 claimed the life of a motorcyclist on Thursday. The collision occurred near Dolph Gaines Road around 4:00 p.m.
The crash involved a southbound 2008 Chevrolet Silverado and a northbound 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by 63-year-old Richard Nash. According to Louisiana State Police, the driver of the Silverado made a left turn into the motorcycle’s path, causing a devastating collision. Nash, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, suffered critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
The Silverado’s driver was uninjured and properly restrained. Impairment is not suspected, but routine toxicology tests are underway as part of the investigation.
State police urge all drivers to follow traffic laws, avoid distractions, and ensure passengers are properly restrained. While not all accidents are preventable, such precautions can significantly reduce risks on the road.
