Motorcycle Crash in Joliet Claims Life of 19-Year-Old Rider, Road Closed for Hours

Joliet, IL – A 19-year-old Joliet man died Tuesday after a crash involving his motorcycle and an SUV on West Jefferson Street. The accident occurred around 5:43 p.m. near Reedwood Drive.

According to the Joliet Police Department, the motorcyclist, riding a Suzuki GSXR 1000, was traveling eastbound on West Jefferson Street. The collision occurred when a 19-year-old woman from Romeoville, driving a Nissan Rogue, turned onto West Jefferson from northbound Reedwood Drive. The impact ejected the motorcyclist from his bike.

Emergency services transported the injured rider to St. Joseph Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities believe speed may have been a factor in the accident. The Nissan driver was not injured.

The road remained closed for hours as crash investigators worked to reconstruct the scene. The Will County Coroner’s Office will confirm the cause of death. Joliet Police continue to investigate the crash and are requesting video footage from the public.
