Monroe, MI — A 56-year-old Monroe man was arrested following a 45-minute police chase through multiple townships. The incident began after Michigan State Police were investigating retail fraud in Frenchtown Township on Saturday evening.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, officers located the suspect’s gray Chevrolet Equinox at a local address. When troopers attempted contact, the driver fled, prompting a broadcast alert. Monroe County Sheriff Deputy Austin Graham spotted the vehicle at Oakridge Estates Mobile Home Park. The suspect, wanted for multiple felony warrants, refused to stop, initiating the pursuit.
The chase spanned Monroe, LaSalle, and Ida Townships. During the pursuit, deputies deployed stop sticks, deflating all four tires. The suspect continued circling the area near Kroger Plaza before stopping on Laurel Drive, where he was arrested.
The driver is now in Michigan State Police custody, facing charges of fleeing and eluding.
