Monroe, MI – A 15-year-old girl from Temperance, Michigan, was arrested for allegedly threatening gun violence against Whiteford Agricultural Schools in Monroe County. The threat, which was planned for Monday, September 9, 2024, was discovered through a group text message between students.
Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough reported the arrest on September 7, 2024, after deputies responded to the school officials’ alert. A parent of one of the students tipped off school officials about the threat, prompting immediate action.
Sheriff Deputies investigated and confirmed that the 15-year-old suspect was responsible for the threat. Authorities arrested the girl and seized a small-caliber bolt-action rifle from her home. The suspect’s identity is being withheld due to her age.
Following the arrest, the suspect was placed at the Monroe County Youth Center. Deputies are continuing to work closely with the school district, the Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office, and Probate Court to ensure safety measures are in place.
To address concerns about school safety, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office will provide additional staff on Monday, September 9, 2024, as a precautionary measure.
