St. Louis, MO – Multiple rounds of thunderstorms are expected across Missouri today, with the most severe storms arriving this evening. The National Weather Service (NWS) in St. Louis warns that the final round of storms carries the greatest potential for severe weather, including damaging wind gusts, hail, and isolated tornadoes.
According to the NWS, the first round of storms is currently moving out of the area, while a second wave is ongoing, bringing small hail and gusty winds. The third and most dangerous round is expected to arrive between 6 p.m. and midnight, with the strongest storms likely between 8 p.m. and 12 a.m..
Wind speeds could reach 60-80 mph, and hail up to 2 inches in diameter is possible. The tornado risk remains low to medium, but if the atmosphere recovers from earlier rainfall, isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
Residents are advised to stay alert and monitor weather updates throughout the evening. Secure outdoor objects, have a way to receive warnings, and be prepared to take shelter if needed.
