Springfield, MO – Heavy rainfall is expected to develop early Monday morning in parts of Missouri, with the heaviest downpours likely near or just west of Highway 65. Springfield is bracing for the potential of flash flooding due to localized thunderstorms that could bring between 1-3 inches of rain, with isolated areas seeing up to 5 inches by Monday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, widespread showers and thunderstorms will begin after midnight, continuing through Monday morning. While the recent dry conditions have reduced soil saturation, the intensity of the rainfall could still lead to localized flash flooding, particularly in areas that experience repeated storms.

Residents in Nixa and surrounding areas are advised to stay weather-aware and monitor local forecasts for updates. The heavy rainfall is expected to be beneficial overall, helping to alleviate the region’s dry conditions. However, the risk of flash flooding remains significant, particularly in low-lying areas.

In addition to the heavy rain, a gradual warmup is expected throughout the week. High temperatures are predicted to reach the 90s by midweek, with additional rain chances continuing as the week progresses.
