Kansas City, MO – Missouri residents should prepare for a significant heatwave starting Saturday, with temperatures soaring well into the 90s and heat indices surpassing 100 degrees each afternoon through Monday. The National Weather Service warns of the hottest conditions occurring on Sunday, with potential heat indices reaching up to 110 degrees.

The forecast for Saturday predicts a high of 94 degrees in Kansas City, with heat indices between 95 and 105 degrees across the state. Conditions will intensify on Sunday, where cities like Leavenworth and St. Joseph may experience a heat index of up to 107 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, no severe weather is expected, but showers and thunderstorms could occur early Saturday morning. The main concern is the dangerous heat, which will persist through early next week. Residents are advised to stay indoors, hydrate frequently, and avoid strenuous activities during peak heat hours.

By Monday, the heatwave will still be in full effect, with temperatures expected to peak around 101 degrees in Kansas City. The oppressive heat is anticipated to ease slightly by Tuesday, but temperatures will remain above average throughout the week.
