Washington Parish, LA – A Mississippi woman was killed in a fatal two-vehicle crash on LA Hwy 25 near Cypress Road on Thursday night. The incident occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m., involving a 2015 Kia Forte and a 2020 Ford Taurus.

According to Louisiana State Police, 51-year-old Teresa Brown-Garcia of Jayess, Mississippi, was driving the Kia Forte northbound when her vehicle veered off the roadway. The Kia struck a guardrail and then re-entered the roadway, crossing into the southbound lane and colliding head-on with the Ford Taurus.

Brown-Garcia, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford, who was properly restrained, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, and toxicology samples were collected from both drivers for analysis. Louisiana State Police emphasized the importance of wearing seatbelts, stating that proper seatbelt use greatly reduces the risk of injury or death in crashes.
