Duluth, MN – Northern Minnesota braces for extreme heat this Sunday as the National Weather Service (NWS) in Duluth forecasts a heat index peaking at 101°. The affected areas include Pine and Burnett counties, where a heat advisory is in effect. The advisory warns residents to avoid strenuous activities, stay hydrated, and find air conditioning to prevent heat-related illnesses.

The NWS warns that the heat index will rise due to high dew points in the mid-70s, which will push the heat index into the low 100s during the afternoon. Sunday’s temperatures will remain high through the evening, only beginning to drop late Monday as a cold front moves through the region.

According to the NWS, the cold front will bring more seasonable temperatures starting Tuesday, offering relief after the sweltering weekend. Residents should continue to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions to stay safe during the heat advisory.
