Raleigh, NC – Central North Carolina will face extreme heat midweek, with heat indices expected to reach dangerous levels. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Raleigh has issued a warning for Wednesday and Thursday, with temperatures pushing heat indices as high as 106 degrees in some areas.

According to the NWS, most of central North Carolina will fall under a Level 3 heat risk category, indicating a significant risk of heat-related illnesses. The highest risk is in areas including Raleigh, Durham, and Fayetteville. Residents without access to effective cooling or hydration are particularly vulnerable.

The NWS urges residents to take precautions such as staying indoors, drinking plenty of fluids, and avoiding strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours. The combination of high heat and humidity could pose serious health risks, especially to the elderly, young children, and those with preexisting health conditions.

This intense heat is expected to ease slightly after Thursday, but caution remains essential until then. Stay informed by checking local weather updates regularly.
