Chicago, IL – A powerful winter storm will sweep through the Midwest this weekend, bringing heavy snow, strong winds, and hazardous travel. The system will first impact the West before moving into the Great Plains and Upper Midwest.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy snow will spread across the Intermountain West from Thursday into Friday. Strong winds and snow will create dangerous travel conditions across the region. By Friday, the storm will strengthen over the Central and Northern Plains, producing near-blizzard conditions.

Parts of Minnesota and the Dakotas could see a wintry mix, adding to travel concerns. Meanwhile, the storm will also bring heavy rain to Southern California, increasing the risk of flooding and debris flows.

Officials urge travelers to monitor forecasts and prepare for hazardous conditions. Snow accumulations and gusty winds could cause road closures and power outages.
