Nashville, Tennessee – Outdoor plans across Middle Tennessee could face periodic interruptions this weekend as scattered showers and thunderstorms move through the region, although widespread severe weather and flooding are not expected.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, Friday will begin with partly cloudy skies before shower and thunderstorm chances increase into the evening. Afternoon highs will range from 80 to 89 degrees, with warm and increasingly humid conditions developing through the day.

Rain chances continue Saturday, when 20% to 60% coverage of showers and thunderstorms is expected across much of Middle Tennessee. High temperatures will reach 79 to 90 degrees, while overnight lows fall into the mid-60s to around 70 degrees. Communities including Nashville, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, Columbia, Cookeville and Lebanon could experience periods of rain, but the day is not expected to be a washout.

On Sunday, morning showers and thunderstorms remain possible before conditions gradually improve. Afternoon highs will climb into the 82 to 94-degree range as humidity increases. While brief heavy rain and lightning may accompany stronger storms, the National Weather Service says severe weather and flooding are not anticipated with this system.

If you have outdoor plans this weekend, keep a reliable way to receive weather updates and be prepared to move indoors if thunder is heard. Drivers should also watch for slick roads and reduced visibility during heavier downpours.

Drier weather is expected to return by Monday, bringing sunshine back to Middle Tennessee as the unsettled weekend pattern moves out.
