Nashville, Tenn. – Nashville is nearly guaranteed to hit 90 degrees today, marking the city’s first official 90° reading of 2025 as an early-season heat wave settles over Middle Tennessee.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, the city has a 100% probability of reaching 90° Tuesday, with nearby communities like Murfreesboro (96%), Hendersonville (92%), and Clarksville (81%) also highly likely to break the seasonal threshold. Monday’s high in Nashville topped out at 89°, falling just shy of the mark.
Temperatures will climb quickly through the afternoon, especially along the I-24 and I-65 corridors. Drivers and outdoor workers are urged to stay hydrated, limit time in direct sun, and check vehicles for heat safety, especially for children and pets. Metro Nashville schools are monitoring conditions for after-school activities, but no schedule changes have been announced as of 3 p.m. CDT.
Cities with slightly lower odds—like Columbia, Cookeville, and Watertown—still face elevated heat index values near 95°, driven by rising humidity and stagnant air. This heat is typical for early June, but it may feel more intense after a relatively mild spring.
Heat alerts are not currently in effect, but forecasters warn this pattern could persist into the weekend.
